Mississippi State University (MSU) has established a number of Academic Pathways Agreements with Mississippi community colleges in order to assist students in the transfer to MSU. These agreements are consistent with the Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) Articulation between community/junior colleges and IHL four-year institutions in Mississippi.
Students may complete their freshman and sophomore years at a community college and their junior and senior years at Mississippi State University in a baccalaureate degree-granting academic program. These Academic Pathways Programs are designed to:
- Facilitate a seamless transition from community colleges to MSU
- Place students on a track towards attainment of a bachelors degree while completing their course of study at the community college
- For specific degree programs, clearly articulate transferability of specific courses from community colleges to MSU
Currently, two years may be completed at Hinds Community College, Holmes Community College, Itawamba Community College, East Mississippi Community College and Jones County Junior College towards completion of some of the following degree programs at Mississippi State University:
- BA History
- BS Elementary Education
- BS Secondary Mathematics Education
- BS Secondary Social Studies Education
- BS Agricultural Engineering Technology and Business with a Surveying and Geomatics concentration
- BS in Fashion Design and Merchandising
- BS in Human Development and Family Science
- BS Animal and Dairy Sciences
- BS Industrial Technology
- BS Poultry Science
